Royal Bay Breaks Ground

Today marked the official launch of our Royal Bay community, as the President of Royal Bay, Russell Tibbles and the City of Colwood Mayor, Carol Hamilton turned over the first ground of what will become Royal Bay’s Neighbourhood House.

With more than 80 people in attendance we unveiled the proposed exterior of the Royal Bay Neighbourhood House. This building will be the centre of the community, allowing residents to make connections by gathering in its cafe, restaurant or community space. The Neighbourhood House will tell the past, present and future story of Royal Bay and will even use some rocks from the original quarry in its construction.

Students from Royal Bay Secondary School joined in on the fun by planting additional Dogwood trees to already planted Birch and Maple trees in the temporary Royal Bay Tree Nursery.

These trees will be used down the road in future boulevards throughout the Royal bay community, allowing for a more consistent flow between the different phases of construction.

Thank you to everyone who attended today’s event. We are very excited for what is to come within Royal Bay.
